DAUM, Karl Mathias Born 1825, died 1870 Wiener-Neustedt Austria. Son of Mathias Daum, below. Pupil of Anton Fischer. Worked in various Viennese shops from 1843-1855. Took over the family business after the death of his father and continued to make instruments in his style.

Sohn von Mathias D. Schüler von Anton Fischer in Wien, bei dem er bis
3. September 1843 lernte. Er arbeitete dann bei verschiedenen Meistern,
übernahm 1855 die väterlicheWerkstatt und heirathete 1860 Francisca Pajer,
die Tochter eines Fleischhauers aus Répcze Szemere in Ungarn. Er war nicht
ungeschickt, wenn er auch seinem Vater nicht gleichkam, und ist zu früh gestorben,
um sich ausreifen zu können. Seine Wittwe heirathete 1872 den Geigenmacher
Fr. Hiller.
