DE COMBLE, Ambroise Worked circa. 1730-1787 Tournay France. Cited by the Hill brothers in their life of Stradivari as one of the earliest imitators of Stradivari. In this period the Stainer and, to a lesser extent, Amati pattern was dominant throughout Europe. His work shows all the innovations of Stradivari, with flat arching, broad-winged soundholes, and an appropriate outline. Work a little coarse by comparison. A maker in Paris in the 18th century (is not to be confused with De Comble). He also published music at his shop on the quai de l’Ecole, at the sign of ” l’Accord par fait.”

Werkstatt und den Laden nach dem Quai de 1’École No. 14 und im Jahre VII
an die Ecke der École de Médecine. Er führte nunmehr das Schild: »A l’accord
parfait«. Ob er je Geigen selbst gebaut hat, steht nicht fest, doch betrieb er
einen ausgedehnten Musikalien- und Instrumentenhandel. — Nicht zu verwechseln
mit Decomble.
