A fine surviving violin is very Florentine in appearance, with full Staineresque arching and long angled soundholes, thin pale golden yellow varnish, and plain wood. Probably associated with J. Scott, a local and contemporary maker. It is entirely possible that many such instruments have been relabe\u{2026} — John Dilworth
