Zweiter Sohn von Martin und Bruder von Nikolaus D. Jedenfalls der Bedeutendste
von den in Mainz ansässigen Mitgliedern der Familie Diehl. Seine Violinen (meist nach Stradivari gemacht) wurden ihm schon bei Lebzeiten mit 66 fl., Violoncelli mit 121 fl. und seine Violen, zu denen er gerne Citronenholz verwendete, mit 88 fl. bezahlt. Sein Lack ist goldgelb.
