Son of soldier/musician Alexander Diehl. Pupil of his father-in-law Nicolaus Döpfer. Later worked for Karl Joseph Helmer in Prague. Klotz-like work of variable quality. DIEHL, Martin (I) Born 1741, died 1793 Mainz Germany. Son of soldier/musician Alexander Diehl. Pupil of his father-in-law Nicolaus Döpfer. Later worked for Karl Joseph Helmer in Prague. Klotz-like work of variable quality. Fairly prolific production includes many cellos, distinguished by large, upright soundholes, and double basses with viol outline. Worked with Nicolaus Dopfer, and later with Carl Helmer of Prague. He was a son-in-law of Dopfer.
Cecie Stainer+
A maker in Mayence in the 18th century. His father-in-law, Nicolaus Dopfer, was his first master; later he worked with Carl Helmer of Prague. His work was not good.
Willibald Leo Lütgendorff+
Geb. in Mainz, Schüler und Schwiegersohn von Nikolaus Döpfer, arbeitete
