DOLLENZ, Giuseppe Born 1832, died 1892 Trieste Italy. Son and pupil of Giovanni Dollenz, above. A more prolific maker than his father, his work shows much the same character and traits, though his varnish is if anything inferior. Often used a broad grained softwood for the table which is possibly of local origin. Cellos are very worthwhile and follow a broad, almost Montagnana-like, pattern. Sohn und Schüler von Giovanni D. Er baute im Ganzen 130 Violinen und
Violen und einige Violoncelli. Er war geschickt, wenn er auch den Vater nicht
ganz erreichte. Die Geigen aus seinen letzten Lebensjahren sind seine besten.
Sein Lack gleicht dem seines Vaters; nur ist er etwas röthlicher. Seine Violoncelli
sind recht gut.
