EGLINGTON Worked circa. 1799-1820 London UK. Coarse trade quality work. Very Germanic in style. Boxy arch and crude scroll. Thin brown varnish enhanced slightly by good golden ground beneath. One example with herringbone purfling, showing a repeated chevron pattern (also seen in the work of Lockey Hill and other English makers). Chin of scroll in the form of a shield inlaid with same herringbone motif. Label has a Masonic symbol of compasses in the lower left corner. Eglington fecit / Drury Lane, London 1802
