Er trat 1724 bei J. H. Ruppert in Erfurt in die Lehre und wurde bereits
1731 zum Hofinstrumentenmacher in Weimar ernannt. Er war sehr vielseitig
und machte nicht nur alle Arten von Geigen und Bässen, sondern auch Lauten,
Mandolinen und Zithern und selbst Harfen und Claviere; in Allem aber war
er nur ein geschickter Handwerker.
