Johann Christian (III) Ficker

Markneukirchen, Neukirchen, 1758–1822

Son of Johann Christian Ficker (II), above. Very fine maker in the terms of the Ficker school. Precisely worked high-arched Stainer model; narrow edges but well-defined purflling. Staineresque scroll: last turn of eye rather exaggerated in the extended cut into the boss. Thin clear yellow varnish. S\u{2026} — John Dilworth

Johann Christian (III) Born 1758, died 1822. Some said to be more Amatisé in style, lacking the extended last turn of the scroll with a larger eye. Also some fairly ugly cornerless violins and good flat-backed double basses. Branded internally: * I * C * F *.

datirt.
