FROSALI, Mario A. Born 1886 Legnano Italy, Worked from 1954 Los Angeles, California USA. Trained as violinist at the Florence Conservatoire. Active as a violin maker there from 1932, before emigrating to the USA. Worked for Herrmann in New York alongside Simone Sacconi; moved to Wurlitzer in Los Angeles 1939. Later manager of the Brown Violin shop. Established his own business 1954. Second prize at New York competition of 1941. Diploma of Honour from the Hague 1949. Well regarded. Classical models finely wrought, with orange-red oil varnish. Also a maker of bows. Violin and bow illustrated in the Sacconi Loan Exhibition catalogue, New York, 1966.
