Er war lange Militärmusiker und spielt ausser Blechinstrumenten auch die Geige. Durch Honeymans Schriften kam er darauf, sich im Geigenmachen zu versuchen, und hat seitdem aus Liebhaberei etwa zwei Dutzend Violinen gemacht nach dem Stradivari-Modell.
