GOULD, John Alfred Born 1866 Windermere UK, died 1944 Boston USA. Trained in Liverpool with W. F. Archer. Emigrated to Hamilton, Canada 1884. Awarded diploma at the Hamilton Industrial Exhibition 1884. Employed by Orin Weeman in Boston from 1885. Established his own workshop there 1889; later assisted by four sons, the business known as J. Er erlernte in Liverpool bei Oliver & Davies den Clavierbau und verlegte
sich dabei frühzeitig auf die Geigenmacherei und wurde von dem Geigenhändler
Archer als Reparateur beschäftigt. 1883 wanderte er nach Canada aus und
konnte bereits 1884 eine Anzahl selbstgefertigter Geigen ausstellen. 1885 zog
er nach Boston, arbeitete bei O. Weemann über zwei Jahre lang und eröffnete
1889 seine eigene Werkstatt.
