GUADAGNINI, Filippo Born 1760 Milan, died 1840 Turin Italy. Son and assistant of Giovanni Battista Guadagnini. Continued working in Turin after his father’s death; a letter from him is addressed to Count Cozio di Salabue in 1787. Recorded in the city archives as a ‘liutaio’ 1804-1813, but no work bearing his own label has come to light, and he almost certainly moved away from violin making in this period. [Rosengard]
