GUTERMANN, Wilhem Theodor Born 1828 Munich, died 1900 Admont Germany. Pupil of Engleder in Munich. Worked for Tieffenbrunner, Stecher, Kiendl, and Hoffmann successively in Vienna 1851-1866. Established a successful workshop in Vienna the following year, eventually employing several assistants. Fine workmanship with clear red varnish. Some violins of an eccentric, quite unsuccessful, model originated by Dr. Liharzik labelled: K K Priv Liharzik. Usual label: W. Theodor Gutermann / Fecit Viennae. Anno 18..
