HENRY, Jacques Born 1823 Mirecourt, died 1870 Paris France. Bow maker. Moved to Paris 1827. Worked for Chanot, Peccatte, and Simon. Branded: HENRY PARIS

Cecie Stainer+

A violin bow maker, b. 1812 at Mirecourt; d 1870 at Paris. He left Mirecourt for Paris in 1837, and first worked with Chanot, then with Peccate. Was partner of Simon, 1848-51, then worked alone, first at 8, rue des Vieux-Augustins, later in the rue Pagevin. His bows are excellent, he marked them ” Henry, Paris.” He was no relation to the Henrys of rue Saint-Martin.

Er machte sehr schöne Bögen und arbeitete bis 1848 für die Geschäfte von
Chanot und D. Peccate, verband sich dann mit Simon, bis er 1851 sein Geschäft
allein anfing (Rue des Vieux Augustins); zuletzt wohnte er in der Rue Pagedin.
Seine Bögen tragen die Brandmarke »Henry, Paris«. Er ist mit den übrigen
Pariser Henry’s nicht verwandt gewesen.
