Seine Familie stammt wahrscheinlich aus dem unweit Füssen gelegenen
Hertingen. Seine Arbeit zeichnet sich namentlich im Äusseren durch saubere
Arbeit aus. Karl Meier in Schönbach besitzt eine Viola von ihm. Dieselbe ist
doppelt eingelegt, auf den Backen verziert und mit Öllack überzogen. Die
Bruststärke der Decke betragt 3 ½ mm, die Länge des Corpus 44,5 cm, die
untere Breite 27,7 cm, die vordere Breite 22 cm, Brust 15,5 cm, die Grifflänge
15 cm.
