LECAVELLÉ, Victor Born 1836, d. after 1908 Mirecourt France. Brother of François Xavier Lecavellé, above. Worked for Bernardel and the Brothers Gand in Paris. From 1856-1863 established in Nîmes, then moved to Béziers 1863-1908. Stradivari-derived model. Fine workmanship. Shaded red-brown varnish. Violas and cellos also. Branded on back. Er lernte fünf Jahre bei seinem Vater Fr. X. L., arbeitete dann von 1854
bis 1856 bei Bernardel und den Brüdern Gand und von 1856—1863 in Nîmes.
Im Jahre 1863 begründete er seine eigene Werkstatt in Béziers. Seine Geigen
tragen einen handschriftlichen Zettel mit seinem Namen. Seine Arbeit wird
gelobt.
