Originally from Alsace according to Vannes. Worked in Paris at the sign ‘A la belle Vielleuse’ in the rue Froidmanteau 1753, later in rue St-Thomas-du-Louvre, and from 1770 in rue des Orties. MELLING Worked circa. 1740-1780 Paris France. Originally from Alsace according to Vannes. Worked in Paris at the sign ‘A la belle Vielleuse’ in the rue Froidmanteau 1753, later in rue St-Thomas-du-Louvre, and from 1770 in rue des Orties. Violins and small cellos in the style of Castagneri. Elegant work with fine golden-yellow varnish. Scrolls feature a scallop shell incorporated into the fluting of the pegbox. Also made plucked instruments. Dem Namen nach wohl deutscher Abkunft, wenn nicht Melliny gelesen
werden muss. Er wohnte 1753 in der Rue Fromenteau, place du Louvre und
hatte das Ladenschild »à la belle Vielleuse« und 1771 in der Rue des Orties
aux galeries du Louvre. Eine Mandore von ihm war in der Sammlung Loup.
