MIGGE, Otto Born 1857 Koblenz Germany, Worked circa. 1896-1908 UK. Established a violin making school in Koblenz 1880: Atelier für Cremoneser Geigenbaukunst. Worked in London from 1896 and in Eastbourne, Sussex from 1908. Author of a book entitled The Secret of the celebrated Italian Violin makers, discovered and explained (Fischbacher, Frankfurt 1894). Classical Italian models, some with additional decorative purfling. Generally dark brown varnish.

schrieb ein kleines Buch: »Das Geheimniss der berühmten italienischen Geigenbauer
ergründet und erklärt von Otto Migge in Coblenz a./Rh.« (Frankfurt a./M.
Gebr. Staudt, 80 Seiten, mit dem Porträt des Verfassers) das sehr verschiedene
Beurtheilung fand (z. B. Mus.-Instr.-Ztg. 1894/95 No. 6, De Wits Ztsch. 1894
No. 6 [D. Hiller] etc.). Dagegen fanden seine Geigen mehrfache Anerkennung,
so von Wilhelmj etc. Er ahmt die italienischen Meister nach den von ihm aufgestellten
Grundsätzen nach und ist Ehrenmitglied des Conservatoriums in Barcelona. Ende der neunziger Jahre siedelte er nach London über.
