NICKL (NIGG, NIKEL, NIGGEL), Sebastian Born 1735 Füssen Germany, d. after 1788 St Petersburg Russia. Member of the same Füssen family as Sympertus Niggel. Thought to be a pupil of J. L. Leidolf and M. Petz whose work his own resembles. Active in Vienna c.1780-1787 and subsequently in St Petersburg c.1788. Rarely encountered maker. Willibald Leo Lütgendorff+

Vielleicht ein Sohn von Sympert Niggell? Er wurde 1782 der Nachfolger
von Marianus Petz und war wohl ein Verwandter von ihm (die Familien Petz
und Nickel stammen aus Füssen). Er legte am 11. Mai 1782 den Bürgereid ab
und wohnte am Hof, im sog. Bürgermeisterhaus. In den Steuerbüchern kommt
er bis 1787 vor und soll dann nach Russland ausgewandert sein, wofür jeder
Beweis fehlt. Eine recht gute Violine von ihm aus dem Jahre 1783 besitzt das Stift St. Florian in Oberösterreich.
