NIGOGOSIAN, Vahakn Y. Born 1910 Istanbul Turkey, died 1997 New York USA. Active violin maker from 1925. Pupil of Karekin Kurkdjian in Istanbul. Went to Paris 1929 to work with Marcel Vatelot and returned to Turkey 1936. Emigrated to the USA 1958. Worked for Wurlitzer in New York for 10 years alongside Simone Sacconi. Established independently in New York from 1969. Very highly regarded craftsman, occupied with fine restoration, and latterly much involved with teaching.
