Am 30. September desselben Jahres wurde er als Bürger in Jena verpflichtet.
Er kam seinem Vater in der Sorgfalt der Arbeit gleich und übertraf ihn vielleicht an Talent, wenn auch nicht an Wissen, obwohl er in jeder Beziehung ein gebildeter und verlässlicher Künstler war.
