John Dilworth
OUVRARD, Jean Worked circa. 1720 died 1748 Paris France. Pupil of Claude Pierray. Master of the violin makers guild 1742-1743. Established in the rue de l’Ecole c.1735. Employed G. Cousineau and an apprentice named François Feury. His widow married Salomon. Violins and cellos on a small Amatisé model. Workmanship slightly finer than that of Pierray. Golden-yellow or red-brown varnish. Viols and quintons in museum collections in Brussels, New York. and Basle. Ouvrard. Luthier. Place de l’Ecole à Paris 1744 Fait par J. Ouvrard / à Paris 1726
