Life
The workshop became internationally renowned for introducing refined French bow-making models into the German tradition and produced bows of professional and concert quality. Appointed Purveyor to the Royal Saxon Court in 1901, the firm used the Saxon coat of arms on many of its frogs and developed characteristic models including the Wilhelmj model. Continued by successive generations of the Pfretzschner family, the workshop remains one of the most important names in the history of German bow making.
