John Dilworth

PIROT, Claude Worked circa. 1795-1835 Paris France. Established in the rue des Grands Augustins. Fine Stradivari model, some with slightly raised arch; best examples comparable with Lupot. Fine scrolls with elongated peg box. Excellent materials; frequently backs of one piece. Thick red-brown or pale yellow varnish. Sometimes branded on lower rib. Printed label: Cde. Pirot Fecit / Parisiis Anno 1810
