John Dilworth

PLIVERICS, Emil Born 1878 Szombathely Hungary, died 1964 Berlin Germany. Pupil of A. Setzer in Budapest. Worked for O. Möckel in Berlin 1895-1906, Züst in Zurich, A. Van Der Meer in Amsterdam, G. Fiorini in Munich, Foetisch in Lausanne, and finally for Kessler in Berlin. Established independently in Berlin, acquiring the business of J. Hornsteiner in 1909. President of the German Corporation of Luthiers 1926-1930. Joined by his son Rudolf in 1924; thereafter the business was known as Pliverics und Söhn. Appointed to restore and conserve the State collection of instruments in Berlin. Fine work on classical Cremonese models with high quality varnish.
