Nachdem er 25 Jahre als Gehilfe gearbeitet, darunter zwei Jahre lang in England, Deutschland und Österreich, liess er sich als Geigenmacher im Jahre 1888 in Boston nieder. Er arbeitet nach Cremoneser Vorbildern und nach einem eigenen Modell, wobei er einen Nachdruck auf das Gleichgewicht legt. Er verwendet OÖ- und Spirituslack. Viele seiner Geigen scheinen jedoch Markneukirchner Fabrikat zu sein.
