John Dilworth+
PURDAY, T. E. Worked circa. 1800-1895 London UK. Partnerships with Button and later with B. S. Fendt. Purday and Button were the successors to Thompson at 75 St Paul’s Churchyard, sellers of music scores. The later business in partnership with Fendt from about 1846 was at 50 St Paul’s Churchyard and took over the shop of Clementi & Co. Early instruments are coarse trade work, often unpurfled. Many appear to have been imported from Mirecourt, and possibly later varnished by Fendt. Fendt himself produced instruments of first quality for the company. T. E. Contrabass fand ich auch die Firma Purdy & Fendt. 1851 erhielt er eine Ausstellungsmedaille. Seine Arbeit wird gelobt; er verwendete einen guten Kopallack.
