Dem Namen nach dürfte er aus dem Vogtlande stammen, doch schloss er sich an die Wiener Meister an. Gutes Holz und dunkler Öllack sind Kennzeichen seiner Arbeit. Im Einreichungsprotokoll der Stadt Korneuburg kommt er 1809 zum ersten Male vor, 1812 bittet er um Überlassung eines Gewölbes (Verkaufsladens) im Rathhause, aber schon 1813 legt er seine Geigenmacherbefugniss in Korneuburg nieder und bittet um seine Entlassung. Er siedelte wohl von da direct nach Wien über.
