A maker in Paris about 1830-60. His instruments are well made, especially the double-basses ; the oil varnish is of good quality ; he generally followed the Stradivari pattern. His name is branded on the back in the interior. Label; ” Sacquin, luthier, rue Beauregard, 14, a Paris, 185—.”

Made several excellent instruments; oil varnish of good quality, neat work, ” Strad” pattern, name branded on back, inside.

Angeblich ein Schüler von Aldric. Er war seiner Zeit ein geschätzter Geigenmacher und besonders wegen seiner Bässe beliebt. Er copirte Stradivari und wendete Öllack an. Ein Brandstempel im Innern findet sich neben seinem gedruckten Zettel.

Paris towards 1840. Pupil of Aldric. An excellent maker who has worked after the Stradivarius model. He used a generous red oil varnish. In our opinion his best instruments are his ‘cellos. He lived at N° 14, rue Beauregard, about the year 1850.
