Biographies

The overview above is drawn from the following published accounts. Read them in the original:

John Dilworth+

SANONI, Giovanni Battista Worked circa. 1722-1740 Verona Italy. High-arched model and well carved scroll with orange varnish of good texture. Rarely encountered.

Cecie Stainer+

A maker in Verona about 1740. His instruments are much arched, with rose coloured varnish; they are of good workmanship.

George Hart+

His instruments are seldom met with in England. High model.

Karel Jalovec+

Verona. 1680—1740. His violins are predominantly high-arched, of a very characteristic shape, with rather upright sound-holes, large scrolls (lacking delicate cut), grooved edges. He applied a good red, or red-brown varnish. On the whole, good instruments. Price 16.000 Kc.
