after 1975 Riehen, Basle Switzerland. Pupil of P. Meinel in Basle. Worked there until c.1946; thereafter established independently in Riehen. Retired in 1975 but continued making instruments. Credited with 120 violins and one cello. Also made the then popular self-supporting floor-standing guitars d\u{2026} — John Dilworth

SCHNEIDER, Karl Friedrich Born 1905 Heilbronn Germany, d. after 1975 Riehen, Basle Switzerland. Pupil of P. Meinel in Basle. Worked there until c.1946; thereafter established independently in Riehen. Retired in 1975 but continued making instruments. Credited with 120 violins and one cello. Also made the then popular self-supporting floor-standing guitars designed to relieve the left hand.
