In einer Laute mit diesem Namen ist der Wohnort »Berlstaedt« zu lesen. Andere wollen »Bernstadt« lesen. In Bernstadt in Sachsen kommt jedoch zwischen 1750—1760 der Name gar nicht vor, und in Bernstadt in Schlesien ist um die genannte Zeit nur ein Erbmüller Johann Christian Stein, aber kein Lautenmacher nachzuweisen. Welcher Ort kann also mit Berlstaedt allenfalls noch gemeint sein?
