Sohn des Geigenmachers Jos. Ant. St. und der Regina Lutz. Da seine Arbeit an die Füssener Schule erinnert, dürfte er wohl auch dort gelernt haben. Er war recht tüchtig in seinem Fache und erwarb 1786 das Bürgerrecht in St. Pölten.
