SUCCO, Johann Reinhold Born 1842 Weingarten Germany, died 1908 Riga Latvia Pupil of A. Freytag in Landsburg. Established independently in Riga from 1865. Fine workmanship, but opaque and hard varnish. Some violins in the Russian style, lacking rib overhang.
Willibald Leo Lütgendorff+
Schüler von A. Freytag. Als Sohn eines Pfarrers hatte er eine gute wissenschaftliche und musikalische Vorbildung, arbeitete in mehreren besseren Werkstätten und siedelte im Herbst 1864 nach Riga über. Er macht sowohl neue Geigen, als er auch alte wiederherstellt; er ist ein Kenner der italienischen Meister und wird von den russischen Geigern geschätzt.
