Er wird in den Acten als Lautenmacher bezeichnet und nennt sich auch selbst so. Seine Geigen sehen den Klotz’schen sehr ähnlich, so dass er als directer Klotz-Schüler betrachtet werden kann. Auch er soll jedoch in die meisten seiner Arbeiten Stainer’s Namen geklebt haben.
