Biographies
John Dilworth
TUBBS, Alfred Born 1863, died 1909 London UK. Bow maker. Son and pupil of James Tubbs. Active throughout his life in his father’s shop and most of his work carries James’ brand. He ran the business only briefly between his father’s retirement c.1888 and his own death in 1909 which prompted James’ return to work. It is assumed that he was responsible for the Royal Academy and Guildhall prize bows whose production ceased in the year of his death. English bows of the finest quality and reputation. [BVMA]
