A maker in Paris, who, according to his labels, was living in the rue de la Juiverie, 1736-38, and according to the old almanacs in rue N.-D.-de-bonne-nouvelle, 1775 83. His instruments show good workmanship, but the varnish is poor. Label : ” François Vaillant, rue de la Juiverie a Paris, 1738.-

Die gewöhnlich vorkommenden Geigen mit seinem Namen stehen selten über der Mittelmässigkeit und sind schlecht lackirt. Da aber einzelne seiner Arbeiten denen von Boquay und Pierray nahekommen, so ist anzunehmen, dass die erstgenannten nur Werkstattarbeiten sind. Er wohnte zuerst Rue de la Juiverie und wenigstens von 1775 in der Rue N.-D.-de Bonne nouvelle.
