Schüler von Bausch; begründete 1870 seine Streichinstrumenten-Fabrik, deren Firma seit 10. September 1900 Gustav Roth & Co. lautet, nachdem der Sohn Theilhaber geworden war. Er erhielt 1897 in Leipzig eine silberne Medaille.
