John Dilworth

BONNEL, Émile Born 1835 Domvallier, Worked circa. 1879 Rennes France. Son and pupil of Joseph Bonnel ‘Le Vieux’, below. Took over the family business in Rennes 1879. Joined by his nephew Bossard, the firm became known as ‘Bonnel et Neveu’. After the death of the senior workman C. Claudot in 1887, T. Husson was brought into the shop. Bossard succeeded to the business, and after his death in 1896 it was continued by his widow and son Marius Bossard. Excellent work on Stradivari model with red-brown varnish, mostly the responsibility of Husson. Medailles d’or d’argent. / E. Bonnel. Luthier / 1896. Rennes. No. 250
