Sohn von Karl Mathias D. Er verlor seinen Vater schon im zehnten Lebensjahre,
erlernte die Geigenmacherei bei seinem Stiefvater Franz Hiller und ging
dann nach Ungarn, von wo er erst 1901 wieder nach Wiener-Neustadt kam und sich als Geigenmacher niederliess. Vorher war er von 1888 bis 1889 in Pressburg ansässig . Er besitzt noch die Werkzeuge, die sein Grossvater von Mich. Stadlmann geerbt hatte.
