Weder die Form des Namens noch die Herkunft dieses Meisters kann als sicher angesehen werden, selbst die Zeit, wann er gelebt hat, müsste erst festgestellt werden. Nach Gallay-Bruni’s Inventaire besass die Marquise de Thuisy eine Violine von »Frédimaure« aus dem Jahre 175 (?) (S. 175). Die Geigenhändler Lyon & Healy bieten eine Violine von J. B. Fredrimauer aus dem Jahre 1740 an, in Frankreich befindet sich dagegen eine Violine von guter Arbeit, langes, schmales Modell, hohe Wölbung, grosse F-Löcher, breite Reifchen,goldgelber Lack, schmale kleine Schnecke mit der Jahreszahl 1643. Ich halte die Jahreszahl zwar für falsch gelesen, muss sie aber doch erwähnen, da der Zettel im
Übrigen echt zu sein scheint.
