EHRMANN, William C. Born 1860, died 1924 Albany, New York USA. Born either in Wittenberg, Germany, according to Henley, or Albany, New York (Vannes). Pupil of C. Andersen in Denver. Established in Marshall Street, Albany from 1919. Innovative maker and dealer in imported instruments. Guarneri model with thin orange-brown varnish. Local materials, some with vertical grain in the ribs. Branded on the back button: ‘Ehrmann / Albany’. Manuscript label: W. C. Ehrmann / Maker / Albany. N.Y. 1908
