HELL, Ferdinand Worked circa. 1845-1862 Vienna Austria. Undistinguished work. Also a ‘Trumpet-Violin’ with a metal tube incorporated into the soundbox.
Cecie Stainer+
A maker in Vienna. In 1854 he exhibited in Münich a double-bass of rather small pattern, but of powerful tone. He is also the inventor of the trumpet-violin, an instrument which can be used as a trumpet or as a violin equally well.

Ein gewandter Meister, dessen Arbeiten sehr geschätzt werden wegen ihres schönen Tons. Er machte u. A. auch Trompeten-Geigen, d. h. Instrumente, die sowohl als Geige wie als Trompete zu benutzen sind.
